Alcohol Inks Card

       Dear friends Thank you so much for appreciating  the Alcohol Inks Introduction and Alcohol Inks Card techniques posts. Here is yet another simple Alcohol Ink Technique.
       This month I am participating in the Hop to Stop Domestic Violence awareness Challenge featuring purple creations. Though my die cut  leaves look almost black in the photo above , the side view photo below shows the purple - red hues.

          Any Alcohol Ink project looks different when viewed at from different angles and I felt this was perfect for the Domestic Violence awareness theme . So many ladies silently suffer ill treatment and torture and those in contact with them often wont suspect the misery these women undergo everyday.

         Some months back I got a new receptionist for my clinic .She appeared lazy and disinterested in her work, she wouldn't hear the phone ring and would walk slowly and lazily even though she was healthy and young. She left after a forth-night and afterwards we came to know why she had been so distracted ....the poor lady had an alcoholic husband who would regularly beat her up. Appearances can be so deceptive.....

        Well on a lighter crafty note...I didnt have purple inks to make my embellishments so used red Alcohol Ink on blue metallic card stock to make a purple Alcohol Inked background card. I used the classic color mixing formula of red + blue = Purple ; only I didn't actually mix paints but  just applied red ink on blue paper! 

        Since Alcohol Inks are such concentrated inks you dont have to empty the whole bottle... you just need to use 2- 3 drops Alcohol Ink + 2-3 drops Alcohol Ink Blending solution on a piece of felt to make an A4 size Alcohol Inked background !

         Die cut the customized card stock using a provocraft leaf die.Since I wanted the leaves to match the crisp white embossed panels I was going to mount them on drew veins with an embossing pen and heat embossed with sparkling snow embossing powder.

I added some recycled purple netting  , lace and pearls to the lower border of the card.

Since Alcohol Inks can be used on multiple surface you can use them for :-
1. Coloring metallic jewelry/ charms or embellishments

I had a silver colored heart pendant...I wanted to make it red!

You can apply Alcohol Inks directly from the bottle on to the object to be colored....just make sure you have the object on a plastic sheet as these inks stain permanently and you wouldnt want your craft table or dining table spoiled!

Alternately you can use gloved hands and smear the object with ink on the plastic sheet
2. Coloring Pearls and Crystals

Even after coloring the heart I had quite a bit of Alcohol Ink left on the plastic sheet so I changed the color of some pearl heart embellishments I had by rolling them in the ink puddle

The red pearl hearts  look gorgeous dont they!
